I spend most of the week dreaming about brunch—particularly if the brunch in question comes with bottomless bubbles.
It’s probably a tad early to be writing about brunch, but on the bright side—you can make your weekend plans in advance! My new go-to spot for bottomless brunch is Mixology 101 at The Grove. For $25, you get your choice of entree and unlimited champagne (mixed with OJ, peach puree, pineapple or cranberry). Alternately, you can skip the mimosas and score an entree for $13, but why?? Portions are generous enough that it’s worth it even if you’re only sipping on a glass or two. Obviously, it’s an even better deal if you can drink more, but I’m not going to get into the nitty-gritty of champagne math.
It’s tough to choose just one plate off the list, but I couldn’t stop nibbling the Short Rib Tater Tots long past the point I was full. It’s comfort in a skillet: tater tots topped with boneless short ribs, caramelized onions, mushrooms and blue cheese crumbles. (I have a weird vendetta against mushrooms, which is why they’re missing from the photos above.) The Sweet & Savory Sandwich reminds me of a fancy (and FLUFFY) McGriddle: Black Forrest ham, scrambled eggs and melted Swiss cheese on griddled, sweet brioche—served with breakfast potatoes, fresh fruit and maple syrup. We ended up adding an order of truffle fries for an additional $6.50 to soak up the…er…bubbles, but it wasn’t necessary.
The brunch menu is available on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., but they’ll let you take advantage of the deal for two hours, as long as you order before 3:00 p.m. We sidled in around 2:30 p.m. and stayed for awhile, so I don’t even know what to call that. Linner? Boozy afternoon snack? Bottom line: delicious.
